Plate Set

This set of plates was completed which  porcelain by throwing and trimming on the wheel. These plates are currently in the bisque stage of clay and have not yet been glazed due to finding a good set up for which kiln to use. The plan for glazing these plates is to uses a white glaze and use underglazes/oxides to create a majolica style pattern.

Set of Three Small Stoneware Bowls

This set of stoneware bowls was thrown and trimmed on the wheel.  The coloration was achieved through the use of red iron oxide, cobalt oxide, celedon, and sun valley yellow glazes. The shine and glassiness of the glazing was achieved with a larger amount of reduction than usual.

Turquoise Raku Set

This raku set was completed on the wheel by throwing and the piercing technique. The coloration is a turquoise, iron oxide, and oil glaze. The colors were also achieved by firing at a very high temperature and allowing for more oxidation than reduction in the firing process.

Large Pilgrim Bottle With Handle

This body of this piece was thrown on the wheel and then the hollow handle was created using the coiling technique. The glazing was completed with blue, black, and sun valley yellow. The texture on the unglazed section was a result of a finer stoneware and reduction in the kiln.

Octopus Pot

This piece was thrown and trimmed on the wheel. The color was achieved with a blend of glazes including blue, sun valley yellow, and black. The "feet" were a result of very high temperatures in the kiln along with a higher amount of flux in the glaze which allowed it to run and pool symmetrically at the bottom.

Brown Pilgrim Bottle

This piece was thrown on the wheel and has an added pulled handle. The spout was hand built with coils and the texture was achieved by coating the piece with a stoneware slip and brushing. The color was achieved with a celedon glaze.

Bowl Set with Yellow Glass

This set was completed using a light colored stoneware clay. Both pieces were thrown and trimmed on the wheel and then glazed with shino, red iron oxide, and cobalt oxide. The interior glass was achieved by placing broken yellow and green glass in the bottom and firing.
